As a society who lives in practical and effective era, we cannot deny that the sophisticated technology has an important role in directing our lifestyle. If previously the traditional method was more dominant, then now everything is handled by digitalize. This is also reflected in the use of plastic materials for daily food containers. Besides being easier to store and not easily broken, plastic materials are also considered lighter and easier to clean.
But, we also have to know that plastic have many basic materials which is not all of them are safe to use as food containers. There are several suggestions or tips that must be done before consuming food or drinks that use plastic containers, 3 of which are:
1. Food Grade Symbol
Who is not amazed by the benefits of using plastic as a food container? It’s a lawful, however. But it must be noted first whether the plastic material has a food grade symbol (a spoon and fork symbol)? Try to find out before consuming. Generally, this symbol is located at the bottom surface of the food or beverage container. Plastics that are categorized as safe and commonly used must come from polyethylene (PE) poloprofilina (PP), polystyrene (styrofoam).
2. Container Cleanup
Besides being safe, another thing that is not less important is the cleanliness of packaging. Dirty packaging will lead to poor interpretation of the quality of the food contained in it. Moreover, the community will easily assess the packaging process carried out by the company concerned. For that, pay attention to the packaging. If there are stains or defects, it should be returned or not to consumed. However, if it can still be cleaned with water and not dangerous when touched by the skin, then it is enough to be cleaned by washing.
3. Can be used repeatedly (recycleable)
Plastic material that can be used many times means this material is environmentally friendly. Imagine if the consumption of disposable plastic penetrated, the accumulation of plastic waste would be higher and harder to deform. Not only will it cause the environment to become polluted, but it can also be a chain poison for starving animals that consume this waste and kill decomposing worms that live in the soil.
